Day 01 Delhi
Arrive at Delhi. You will be greeted on arrival at the International Airport. Our representative will help you with your transfer to your hotel where you can relax. Delhi: Delhi is the capital of India and its third largest city. Delhi, the seat of one of the world’s largest democracies is a combination of “Old Delhi”- the capital of Muslim India and “New Delhi” the imperial city created as the nation’s capital by the British. There’s a unique blend of tradition and modernity. Here one can see mingling of many cultures, languages, traditions and people in complete harmony. Spend night at your hotel in Delhi. Day 02 Delhi
Breakfast will be at hotel. Later proceed for sightseeing tour of Delhi visiting, Red Fort: Red Fort or Lal Quila as it is more popularly known is a masterpiece of architecture and one of the most haunting spots for tourists from both India and abroad. This colossal fort on the banks of the river Yamuna, built by Shahjahan as the citadel of the 17th Century Delhi is a significant link between the past and the present, for it is from here that the prime minister of India addresses the people on the Independence Day (August 15th). Mughal Emperor Shahjahan started construction of the Red Fort in 1638, which was completed in 1648. Come back to your Hotel for a good night's sleep, to let the amazing day's visits sink in. By Road Have a sumptuous breakfast at the hotel and later proceed for Agra, en-route Fatehpur Sikri. Yet, it doesn’t take much for the roving eye to discover that there's more to Agra than just the fabled Taj Mahal. . Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the hotel and proceed for the sightseeing tour of Agra visiting Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and Sikandara. AGRA FORT - Built by the famed Mughal emperor Akbar in 1565 AD, the fort is predominantly of red sandstone. Ensconced within is the picture perfect Pearl Mosque, which is a major tourist attraction. After Agra Fort we will visit BABY TAJ – The interiors of which are considered better than the Taj. Day 07 Agra - Gwalior
By Road 120 kms/3 Hrs Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the hotel drive for Gwalior. Gwalior: A little southward of Agra lies the ancient city of Gwalior. Centuries of history can be witnessed even today in its monuments, temples, museums and cultural traditions. The magnificent Gwalior Fort, with its reflections of art, religion and military might, is an enduring symbol of this glorious past. The colorful history of this city dates back to the eight century and is a mosaic of Rajput clans of the Pratihasas, Kachwahas and Tomars, each leaving their marks on the city’s magnificent monuments. The history of this city can be traced back to 8th century AD when a chief tain known as Suraj Sen was struck by a deadly disease and cured by a hermit-saint Gwalipa. As a gratitude for that incidence, he founded this city by his name. The new city of Gwalior became existence over the centuries. The cradle of great dynasties ruled the city Gwalior. With different Dynasty, the city gained a new dimension from the warrior kings, poets, musicians, and saints who contributed to making it renowned throughout the country. Reach and check in at the hotel. Relax for some time and later proceed for sightseeing visiting Gwalior Fort. Gwalior Fort: Standing on a steep mass of sandstone, Gwalior Fort dominates the city and is its most significant monument. A steep road winds upwards to the fort, flanked by statues of the Jain tirthankaras, carved into the rock face. The magnificent outer walls of the fort still stand, two miles in length and 35 feet high, bearing witness to its reputation for being one of the most invincible forts of India. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the hotel and proceed for sightseeing tour of Gwalior visiting, Gujari Mahal: The 15th century Gujari Mahal is a monument to the love of Raja Mansingh Tomar for his intrepid Gujar Queen, Mrignayani. The outer structure of Gujari Mahal has survived in an almost total state of preservation; the interior has been converted into Archaeological Museum housing rare antiquities, some of them dating back to the 1st century A.D. Even though many of these have been defaced by the iconoclastic Mughals, their perfection of form has survived the ravages of time. Particularly worth seeing is the statue of Shalbhanjika from Gyraspur, the tree goddess, the epitome of perfection in miniature. The statue is kept in the custody of the museum's curator, and can be seen on request. Sas Bahu ka Mandir: Two architecturally beautiful 11th century temples. Jai Vilas Palace: A splendor of a different kind exists in the Jai Vilas Palace, current residence of the Scindia family. Some 25 rooms have been turned into the Jivaji Rao Scindia Museum, and in these rooms, so evocative of a regal lifestyle, the past comes alive. Jai Vilas is an Italianate structure which combines the Tuscan and Corinthian architectural modes. The Scindia Museum offers an unparallel glimpse into the rich culture and lifestyle of princely India. Overnight will be at the Hotel. Day 09 Gwalior - Jhansi - Khajuraho
Gwalior-Jhansi Jhansi - Khajuraho This morning you will have an early start from the hotel to connect train for Jhansi. This is a deluxe train to Jhansi and breakfast, mineral wate, snacks will be served on board. Arrival at Jhansi railway station and continue your drive for Khajuraho, en-route visiting Orcha. Orcha: Orcha is a town situated near the Banks of Betwa River, which is located in Madhya Pradesh a state of India. It is a city of medieval times comprised of temples and splendid palaces of the past. Orcha has been a very mighty kingdom of Central India founded by Bundela Rajput Rudra Pratap. The palaces still have the glory of the past telling the tales and tastes of the rulers of those times. Day 10 Khajuraho
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the hotel and later proceed for a sightseeing tour of Khajuraho. The Western Group: The temple of Devi Jagdamba is considered by many to be one of the most erotic temples of Khajuraho. Chaunsat Yogini is the oldest of the surviving temples of Khajuraho. This temple is dedicated to goddesses Kaliand is the only temple in Khajuraho that is built in granite. The Eastern Group :The eastern group of monuments, situated in close proximity to the Khajuraho village, includes three Brahmanical temples known as Brahma, Vamana and Javari and three Jaintemples, the Ghantai, Adinath and Parsvanath.The temple of Parsvanath is the largest of the Jain temples in Khajuraho .The temple was originally dedicated to Adinath and latter to Parsvanath. It is the finest example of the sensitive art without any sexual motifs. Shantinath is the youngest of all the temples in Khajuraho. The temple has a four and a half meter statue of Adinath. The Southern Group: The southern group of monuments comprises the Duladeo and the Chaturbhuja temples. The Duladeo is about a kilometer south of the Khajuraho village and half a mile southwest of the Jain group of temples. Overnight will be at hotel in Khajuraho.
Day 11 Khajuraho - Varanasi
By Air This morning you will have a relaxed breakfast at the hotel and spend some time at your own leisure or explore the small town of your own. Later you will be transferred to the airport to connect your flight for Varanasi. You will be met and transferred to the hotel on arrival at Varanasi. Briefing (Varanasi): Picturesquely situated on the crescent shaped left bank of the holy River Ganges, Varanasi, one of the ancient seats of learning in India, is said to be a compound of the names of two streams, the Varuna and the Assi, which still flow in the north and south of the city respectively.Varanasi is the oldest city of the world. Varanasi is more than 3000 years old and is famous as the city of temples. In Varanasi, there are temples at every few paces. Jyotirlinga Visvanatha Temple or Golden Temple, rebuilt in 1776, is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The Jnana Vapi well (meaning 'Well of Wisdom) is believed to have been dug by Lord Shiva himself. Sarnath: Sarnath, 10 km from Varanasi, where the Buddha preached his first sermon in the Deer Park, contains the most impressive remains, as well as a modem temple. The Dharmarajika, Chaukhandi and Dharnek stupas are outstanding. There are also the remains of a monastery, and the beautifully polished Lion Capital of Ashoka.Sarnath contains a rich library and at the Mula gandha Kutir Vihara there are excellent frescoes by Kosetsu Nosu. The Sarnath Museum, not far from the site, contains some of the finest specimens of Buddhist sculpture. Enjoy the evening AARTI at the GHATS. The guide will be giving a commentary to you on the proceedings and meanings of the chants during the AARTI of the river. Overnight will be a Varanasi. Day 12 Varanasi
Drive to Daswamedh Ghat early in the morning and take a boat ride on the sacred river Ganges to see the cremation Ghats and witness the living traditions of one of the world's oldest and most important religions. (To start at 0500 hrs. for the best lifetime experience) Thousands of faithful come daily to the banks to bathe and pray while in the background, temples and palaces rise in tiers from the water’s edge. Return for a walk through the cobblestone streets along the banks of "Ganga. Return back to the hotel for breakfast. Later proceed for the tour of the holy city including the Bharat Mata Temple, which features a big relief map of Mother India, engraved in marble. Also visit the 18th century Durga Temple, commonly known as the Monkey Temple due to the huge population of the monkeys. Drive past the Tulsi Manas Temple, crafted from white marble which features the entire Ramayana inscribed on its walls. Also visit the BHU considered as the biggest residential university in Asia. The University Campus houses an Art Gallery and the Mosque of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. Evening will be at your own leisure and overnight. Day 13 Varanasi - Delhi - Back Home
Have a comfortable morning at the hotel with a leisurely breakfast. Later you will proceed for the airport to connect your flight for Delhi and back home. Return back with sweet memories of India. |
