In case you want to travel across India, then October to March has a pleasant and cool weather, hill stations though are mostly visited during summer time in India. What are the cultural aspects that can be considered while in India?

India is well known for its rich cultural heritage. Hence, we request you to kindly keep in mind the cultural aspects (which may seem conservative at times)while you are on your tour in India. Both men and women should wear clothing that covers knees and shoulders (especially while visiting religious places like mosques and temples). When entering mosques, temples and places of religious worship or private homes – please remove your shoes. Women can cover their head with a scarf or a stole. Many Hindu temples are not open to non-Hindus. Always ask permission before entering. Even Mosques may have limited visiting times for non-Muslims. Please avoid any public displays of affection. Nudity is a taboo hence while swimming please do wear a swimsuit.

What medical aspects need to be considered?

The majority of visitors to India return home with perfect health with no problems at all. The most common problem is an upset stomach for a day or two due to use of unfiltered water, change of diet, or simply the change of lifestyle. Use mineral water which is easily available at all places and avoid tap water. However, always check the seal before buying. No specific vaccinations are required to enter India unless you are entering within six days of having visited a yellow fever infected area. Most doctors recommend the vaccinations of Tetanus, Hepatitis, Meningitis & Malaria. Dust can be a problem to travelers sometimes. You may use spects instead of contact lenses. If you are prone to coughs, colds and sore throats, we advice you to take preventive medicines with you as cities suffer from smog pollution. This is particularly important if you suffer from bronchial complaints. If you are over 60 or you think you have any physical disabilities, then you should talk to your doctor about the trip to ensure it is suitable for you. Once on the trip please tell us any concerns you may have regarding health concerns, we can then ensure your specific needs are met. If you are undergoing specific medical treatment please inform us and ensure you have an adequate supply of any medication you may be taking.

What are the transport means available & suitable for tours?

For majority of the sectors, road travel is the most comfortable and economical way of travel. A sedan suits a maximum of 2 travelers and SUV is comfortable for 3-5 passengers. For more than 5 and upto 12 passengers, we have the Tempo Travelers which is more like a mini bus and then we have the deluxe coaches for larger groups.

In India, roads could be rough at places and traffic chaotic and hence our guests often get very worried. We suggest that you catch up on some sleep or read a book or you can even carry handy music to listen and soothe. Journeys upto 7-8 hours are comfortable by roads but anything more than that can be covered by an overnight train or a flight. All major cities are connected by airports and good number of air service providers.

The drivers are well trained and they are used to Indian roads. Very seldom (I must hasten to add that almost none) are any accidents involving tourist vehicles. The cars that are used are safe, insured for and routinely checked. Overnight trains are comfortable ridewise but one may find the train travel a bit unhygienic, unless it is the luxury trains which have the fixed tours and departure dates.

India offers a very diverse climate and temperature throughout the year. While one may find scorching heat of 40 degrees centigrade in one city, another may be snowing. North India has very hot summers with temperatures soaring upto forty eight degrees centigrade. At the same time the hill stations of India have pretty cold climate even in the summers.

Winters in India last from November to March (earlier it used to be from October). Hence, this is also considered the best time to visit India unless one wishes to travel to a hill station like Shimla or other cities in the state of Himachal Pradesh. The west coastal region in India has pleasant climate throughout the year with temperatures going upto thirty eight degrees on the higher side. States of Maharashtra, Goa, Kerala etc. that fall on the coastal belt have a high degree of humidity though. North India and Rajasthan are not advised to be visited during summers from April to June. Monsoons last from July to September and the beach destinations are not recommended during these months. Even the wildlife national parks in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh remain closed during the monsoon season.
