This Yoga and meditation tour will include sessions of Vedic chantings, learning Yoga Asanas, meditation sessions and holy prayers. Varanasi is one of the most ancient living civilizations on earth. A walk down the meandering lanes of Varanasi, ending at the stairs of the banks of the river Ganges can be absorbing and confounding at the same time. Saffron is the copious color on the steps, intriguing a mystical aura. However, it is quite a daunting task to distinguish the beguiling monologue and devout exhortations from the righteous saintly benedictions; atleast not on your first visit to Varanasi! So for starters, just remember “Everything Saffron ain’t holy!” As you step down, the sight of the crescent flight of stairs extending to the eighty eight ‘Ghats’ on the brown waters of the river Ganges, instigates a fortuitous spiritual thought that may just ricochet or perhaps be life-changing! Either ways, the visit to Varanasi is bound to unveil a riveting cultural experience, unique to this small town which can be acclaimed as an existing cornucopia from the ancient civilization. The boat ride on the river Ganges at dawn and dusk is guaranteed to mesmerize you. Every Ghat narrates its own saga and transports you into a different world – be it the Manikarnika Ghat of cremation or the other eighty seven Ghats with intense beliefs and rituals associated with each of them. For centuries, millions of Yogis have practiced Yoga and meditation on these very ghats of the holy river Ganges.

The cities of Haridwar and Rishikesh are as important for your yoga and meditation tour to India. The number of ashrams in these cities outnumber those in Varanasi. One will find the best of the Yoga Gurus in these holy cities on the banks of the Ganges. Since these cities are closer to the origin of the river Ganges at Gangotri, the river water here is much cleaner and undiluted, The water is said to have healing properties and many pilgrims take a dip in the river to heal their body and mind. In Varanasi, the main highlight of boat ride on the river Ganges often gets suspended when the river Ganges increases its level due to heavy rains. It is not safe to take a boat ride at the Ganges during the monsoon months. Like other cities in the North, all these three cities are also extremely hot during the summer months of April to June. Winters are cold and better to travel than the summers or monsoon season.

During the major festival period, people from across the globe gather at these destinations to bathe in the sacred river of ‘Ganga’. It gets very crowded during the pilgrimage months. All the three cities are an important part of the pilgrimage ritual for followers of Hinduism.

Please note that while visiting any religious places, it is advisable to wear clothes covering full arms and legs. Also, you will be required to remove your footwear before entering a temple. As per Indian customs, it is a sign of respect to cover one's head with a cloth, which could be either a stole or a scarf for the ladies and a handkerchief or cap for the gents. The timings for the Aarti or the evening prayers on the banks of the Ganges are scheduled as per the season and are mostly dependent on the sunrise and sunset timings in that particular city.
