It is believed that the gods descend on the earth to bathe in the Ganges on this day of Dev Deepawali. On this day thousands of devotees from Varanasi and across the Indian subcontinent gather at the ghats of the Ganges in the evening to watch the mesmerizing Ganga aarti. Dev Deepawali in Varanasi is a five-day-long festival that has over the years become a major tourist attraction.
